65th Division Association presents the FAMILY SERIES
Due to many requests and inquiries from family members of 65th Infantry Division Veterans, Robert H. Cardinell, our
Division Historian, presents four new 65th Division books. The following books, compiled especially for children, grandchildren,
and relatives of 65th Infantry Division Veterans, have been dubbed the Family Series and are available for immediate shipment:
259th Infantry Regiment History and Stories (242 pages)
260th Infantry Regiment History and Stories (362 pages)
261st Infantry Regiment History and Stories (435 pages)
Hqs., Special Troops, and Separate Units History and Stories (364 pages)
These books share extracted history, personal stories, experiences, and events relative to each unit and have been carefully
compiled by our historian from 14 books (over 4500 pages) that were printed between 1989 and 2006. Many stories include personal
touches that are often lacking in official reports, such as the names of individuals. In fact, each book in our Family Series
includes an index with an alphabetical list of every Veteran mentioned, and the corresponding page number. Even though he may
not have recorded or spoken to anyone of his wartime adventures, through these books, relatives of each 65th Division Veteran
can gain insight into his WWII experience.
The new Family Series is an attempt by the 65th Infantry Division Association to provide answers, insight and solutions for
family members with the following dilemmas:
Their 65th Div. Veteran never shared personal war experiences with his family members.
The Veteran never returned to Europe to retrace his combat route, provide the names of cities/villages,
or take a family member to visit any of these places from his wartime experience.
These books provide a probable 65th Division combat route to interested family members who may wish to retrace
this route on a glorious vacation to Europe while enjoying other beautiful restored villages at the same time in Germany,
Austria, and Switzerland.
The many pages in each Division Unit Book in our new Family Series will provide information from the Veteran's
training in Camp Shelby, MS through combat time in Europe. Routes are covered in detail with village names, dates, maps
right down to the Battalion level. The readers will relive the Veteran's route and experiences from the French border
through Germany and the middle of Austria, when war ended in early May, 1945.
Some of our 65th Division Veterans have had the pleasure of re-tracing their combat route through present day Europe.
If you visit the Stories and Pictures area of www.65thdiv.com, you'll see that with careful planning and 2 to 3 weeks,
the picturesque sights and beauty of these villages can result in the journey of a lifetime.
